In America, we don’t put up with would-be kings. June 14th NO KINGS is a national day of action and mass mobilization in response to increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption from Trump and his allies. We’ve watched as they’ve cracked down on free speech, detained people for their political views, threatened to deport American citizens, and defied the courts. They’ve done this all while continuing to serve and enrich their billionaire allies. Learn more about NO KINGS.

MADISON
Monday June 9th, 5:30-7:30pm - Viewing and Public Comment Party for City-County Homeless Issues Committee Budget Listening Session. This event is in-person at the Social Justice Center, 1202 Williamson St. Join the MADSA Abolitionist Working Group in watching the City-County Homeless Issues Committee Budget Listening Session together, in lieu of the working group's regularly scheduled meeting! Homelessness is closely connected to abolition in the many ways cops and carceral systems violently criminalize homelessness without offering real solutions or relief in a dizzying rental market like Madison’s. Abolition is a key concern for socialists, and it is important that we stand in solidarity with our most vulnerable comrades and against a state that prioritizes profit over the lives and wellbeing of its citizens. Come eat some snacks, support each other as we make public comment, and listen to what our neighbors across Dane County have to say!
About the Abolitionist Working Group: The Abolitionist Working Group (AWG) formed out of the work to Derail the Jail and the Doyle Resolution campaigns to stop the jail expansion and to decarcerate Dane County. This group is the home in Madison Area DSA for all abolition-related work. We believe that abolition is a key tenet of socialism as prisons and policing are some of the most direct and personal means of state-driven oppression in our current society.
