Virtual Conversation with author Jamie Hood May 26

Event Dates:
05/26/21

Wed. May 26th 6:00 pm Virtual Conversation with Jamie Hood, author of How to Be a Good Girl, for a conversation on Crowdcast with fellow poet Rachelle Toarmino! Co-hosted by A Room of One’s Bookstore. Jami Hood’s How to Be a Good Girl mingles diaries, poems, drafts, fragments, literary/cultural criticism, & love letters to unfurl hybrid interrogations of femininity, fucking, and surviving trauma. As the text journeys from the ice age to climate crisis and devours figures and texts as expansive as levinas, plath, the ronettes, after-school-specials, fairy tales, and the romantics (among others), it also dismantles contemporary formulations of womanhood to ask: how far will one woman go in her longing to be fathomed as good, and what pound of flesh must be paid to live through this. Jamie will be joined by Rachelle Toarmino, author of the poetry collection, That Ex, and the chapbooks, Feel Royal. For login details, register at: https://www.crowdcast.io/e/8hdxfcyi/register
