The Protect the Right to Organize (PRO) Act News Event - Madison April 26

Event Dates:

Citizen Action is partnering with the Wisconsin AFL-CIO to put on a news event at the State Capital Monday at 1:30 PM to promote one of the most consequential pieces of legislation since the New Deal to extend the rights of workers.

The Protect the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, now pending before the U.S Senate and strongly supported by President Joseph Biden, will do much to reverse the anti-worker actions of former Governor Scott Walker for private sector workers, and to expand organizing rights beyond anything we have seen in decades.

The PRO Act is more than labor law reform, it’s civil rights legislation to close racial and gender wage gaps, and to ensure dignity and due process for workers, regardless of where we were born, who we are or what type of work we do. The PRO Act is important for all workers, especially those who have been marginalized. It will increase protections for women, people of color, immigrants and the LGBTQ community by giving workers new tools to address injustices and win a fair wage.

Critically important to rebuilding the middle class, the PRO Act will cause a surge of union organizing not seen since the 1930s, shifting the balance of power between corporations and workers. It will also shift the balance of power politically in this country, bolstering movements for racial justice, guaranteed health care, and addressing climate change.

Please join me, WI AFL-CIO President Stephane Bloomingdale, and key State Legislators on the Capitol Steps (State Street Side) at 1:30 PM on Monday April 26
