350 Madison monthly meeting with Samantha Williams April 5

Event Dates:
04/05/21

Please plan to join 350 Madison and friends on Monday evening, April 5, as we gather to hear about the transition away from fossil fuel use in buildings.

Burning fossil fuels in our homes and workplaces here in the Midwest is a significant source of greenhouse gas emissions. But we have the tools to change that. Replacing gas furnaces, boilers, water heaters, stoves, and clothes dryers with highly efficient electric appliances that run on increasingly clean electric power—and pairing that with traditional energy efficiency—is a powerful strategy to “decarbonize” buildings and help tackle the climate crisis.

Our speaker, Samantha Williams, directs the Midwest Climate and Clean Energy Program of the Natural Resources Defense Council. In that position, she works to further policies that cut pollution emissions and accelerate the Midwest’s transition toward an affordable, just, clean energy economy.

In this policy conversation, we’ll discuss the no-regrets policies that Wisconsin can take on now at the state and local level to kickstart the transition away from using fossil fuels in our buildings. Following Samantha’s presentation, we’ll learn more about what 350 Madison is doing to fight climate change in this and other arenas.
