10:00 AM - Fasting for Climate Justice - Fast, Pray, Act

Join the Lutheran Office for Public Policy, the "Wisconsin 6," and other climate leaders as we advocate together for climate and environmental protections in this year's Wisconsin State Budget. This nonpartisan event will be hosted on the west corner (State St. corner) of the Wisconsin State Capitol building at 10:00am on Saturday, March 6th. All are welcome! Masks and social distancing are required. LOPPW, the Wisconsin Five, and the rest of the Fasting for Climate Justice Team ask you to consider attending Saturday's press conference and support in any way that you are able, including fasting for the day of the event or for just a single meal. Meditative prayers and vocally advocating for climate justice are other ways to show your support.

The WI 6 are fasting for 22 consecutive days to focus public attention and spark action for climate protections in this year's Wisconsin State Budget. Members of the Kenosha Five are Rev. Jonathan Barker, pastor at Grace Lutheran Church in Kenosha; Andy Berg, County Board Supervisor and Executive Director of Garden of Eatin' - Kenosha; Justin Blake, community leader and founder of Black Underground Recycling; Joe Cardinali, former Kenosha County Board Supervisor and community activist; Jill Ferguson, grandmother of eight and soon-to-be great-grandmother, a life-long peace activist, and Peace Action Wisconsin Board member; and Tory Lowe, community advocate and activist.
