March 18th 6:30 pm Keepers of the Water - Online Film Screening and Discussion. This documentary explores the diverse coalition of environmental activists that defeated the Exxon and Rio Algom proposed copper-zinc metallic sulfide mine and toxic waste dump at the headwaters of the Mahwāēw- Sēpēw (Menominee)/Wolf River (English translation), near Crandon, WI. Discussing the film afterwards will be the director, Al Gedicks, Executive Secretary of the Wisconsin Resources Protection Council and Emeritus Professor of Environmental Sociology, UW-La Crosse, as well as Anahkwet, Menominee community organizer, author, and Executive Director of Menīkānaehkem.
