Introduction to Palestinian Tatreez Embroidery from Folklore Village in Dodgeville

Featuring Wafa Ghnaim of "Tatreez and Tea"

Palestinian embroidery, or tatreez, is a centuries-old folk art, traditionally passed from mother to daughter over a cup of tea. The traditional Palestinian embroidered dress, also known as the thobe, has traceable origins from the beginning of the sixteenth century and the tatreez, or embroidery, has an iconographical and symbolic significance that ultimately dates back to Chinese symbols found around 5,000 BC.

This is the beautiful embroidery that MRSCP offers for sale from various parts of Palestine!

Learn about the history and the art of tatreez, and try your hand at it, in this interactive workshop featuring Tatreez and Tea founder and embroiderer extraordinaire Wafa Ghnaim. Please register here well in advance to pay the $20 fee and get further instructions, as you will need to purchase your supplies ahead of time.
