Screening of ”Prince Among Slaves” - from MRSCP Feb 13

Saturday Feb. 13, 7 pm  Screening of ”Prince Among Slaves” – on-line at the Milwaukee Muslim Film Festival with commentary by Reggie Jackson. Free. Prince Among Slaves tells the story of Abdul Rahman Ibrahima, trilingual, a a highly educated African prince, general and heir to a West African nation the size of Great Britain, captured from his homeland and sold as a slave in Natchez, Mississippi in 1788. Ibrahima toiled on a plantation, married a fellow slave and had nine children. While he gradually became the most famous African in America, he would not return to Africa for 40 years. 

The film won numerous awards and had a national broadcast on PBS. The talk back speaker after the film will be Reggie Jackson of America's Black Holocaust MuseumGet more info and register for free here (although donations are much appreciated).
