19th Amendment 100th Anniversary Celebration
Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 5:30 PM – 7 PM
Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop, Allouez

In February of 1920, the newly formed League of Women Voters of Wisconsin elected an accomplished first leader in Jessie Jack Hooper.  Social reformer, suffragist, lobbyist, peace activist, and candidate for U.S. Senate in 1922, Jessie Jack Hooper led a remarkable life filled with progressive achievements. In Oshkosh, where she lived from 1888 until her death in 1935, she held local office in several women’s civic organizations and championed school reform. Join the League and Green Bay AAUW for a lively reenactment of Hooper's role as a suffragist, to be portrayed by Helen Bannan, retired Director of Women's Studies and Professor of History, UW-Oshkosh. Light refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m. and program will begin at 6:00 p.m.
