Petition: We are ourtraged with the Wisconsin State Patrol

From the Racial Justice Tipping Point

Once again the Wisconsin State Patrol officers was sent to Standing Rock, this time to perform an eviction of the main camp in resistance to the Dakota Access Pipeline #NoDAPL. They were also there in October as part of a militarized aggressive policing campaign against the Water Protectors. This is not how we want our tax dollars to be spent.

Sign the petition here to let the WI DOT, the Governor and the WI State Legislature know that you do not agree with how the WI State Patrol has been spending their time.

The petition states our opposition to the militarized police force used at Standing Rock and the ongoing police presence protecting the interests of corporations at the expense of Native people while also breaking treaty rights. The land that the WI State Patrol was removing people from is unceded treaty land from the 1851 Fort Laramie treaty. This is continuing a legacy of colonization and theft of native land for the interests of profit over people.

The petition states: "We want a law enforcement that is by and for the people; we want community control over the police. We demand that the immediately halt any continuing involvement of WI law enforcement at Standing Rock or related actions."

Please sign the petition and share it with your friends and networks!
