Friday, April 4, 2008 marks 40 years since Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee.

 

To mark this important occasion, the Dane County/City of Madison Martin Luther King, Jr. Coalition is inviting all Dane County citizens to join in a commemoration at the King Memorial Statue located in front of the Madison Municipal Building on Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. (The rain location will be in the lobby of the Municipal Building.) The observance, to be held from noon until 12:30, will include brief remarks from Mayor Dave Cieslewicz, a representative from County Executive Kathleen Falk’s Office, Pastor Richard Jones of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Larry Studesville, Interim Director of the City of Madison Department of Civil Rights, and Scott Gray, President & CEO of the Urban League of Greater Madison. Toya Robinson will sing Rev.
