Dear Editor: Please consider the effect on our children of aiding and abetting the military recruitment policies of the Pentagon. Why should our schools give aid in encouraging children to enlist in the military?
There is no counter persuasion to the harm they will incur to themselves and those they are trained to injure and kill.
Education's foremost mission is to aid the young to think for themselves in a disciplined, cultivated manner. Military advertising is not, and cannot be, a part of such education. Its mission is to persuade to an ideology of the warrior.
Does the School Board wish to encourage such deceit under the guise of "patriotism"?
Please help me in the education of my grandchildren.
