Sam Romano writes: I am forwarding an article in today's 2/28/08 Huffington Post written by Mr. Jan Egeland. Mr. Egeland has worked for the United Nations for over 25 years, and has been at the forefront of important conflict resolution and major humanitarian relief efforts for the UN. Mr. Egeland's article is both optimistic on recent gains achieved by global cooperation via the United Nations, and also realistic regarding the profound unmet human needs experienced yet by so many on the planet and the need for significant UN reform to make it a more effective organization.

He will be speaking at Beloit College on Thursday April 3 at 8:00 in Pearsons Hall and will also be part of a panel on Saturday April 5 at 1:00 again in Pearsons Hall. These programs are free and open to the public.
