Long-time WNPJ member and activist from LaCrosse - honored with a book

Description

Justice Not Just Us: June Kjome and the Making of An Old Lady Activist.

At age 87, June Kjome continues to be an activist for causes important to her – non-violence, justice and peace, hunger and health care for all, and equality for people of all sexual orientation.

This book follows June’s life from childhood in Austin, Minnesota, to missionary nursing in South Africa for 19 years through her current activism.

She continues to stand out on a street corner as a “Woman in Black” in silent vigil for non-violence. She also has protested her own beloved church for not allowing ordination of gay or lesbian clergy.

June speaks out against injustice whenever she sees it, saying “silence is the same as assent.”
