Clifford Offers Best Qualifications For Court

Dear Editor: I am writing in support of Linda Clifford, whose integrity and qualifications best equip her for the very important job of Wisconsin Supreme Court justice.

Recently, the media have been commenting on the fact that Annette Ziegler, Clifford's opponent, has heard many cases involving conflicts of interest. Several of them concerned the West Bend Savings Bank, of which her husband is a paid board member, and other cases involved companies in which she owned stock. While Ziegler says she was never prejudiced in favor of the bank or a particular company, the fact remains that she did not disqualify herself from such cases. The ethics rules of the Wisconsin Supreme Court call for this disqualification.

Why would someone who is running for this court ignore its rules?

Linda Clifford comes to the plate with 32 years of legal experience, including working as an assistant attorney general and serving as president of the Dane County Bar Association.

I want her to be the candidate who wins this position on the Supreme Court, because I trust her and because she has earned it.

Please vote for Linda Clifford next Tuesday.
