09/30/08 Call your Senator TODAY about the India nuclear cooperation deal
Submitted by staff on Tue, 09/30/2008 - 8:58am
Please call your Senator TODAY
On Saturday, the House of Representatives narrowly approved the India nuclear cooperation deal. Now, with only a few days left in the legislative session, the Bush Administration is pushing for a quick vote in the Senate.
Your Senator has expressed opposition to the India nuclear deal in the past. Please CALL to thank your Senator and urge continued opposition.
This opposition could prevent a vote in the Senate.
We are working to block a vote on the India nuclear deal that could occur in the Senate on Wednesday evening. Preventing a vote is our best option to defeat this agreement because if a vote were held in the Senate now, this unfortunate India deal would likely be adopted.
Please only call the Senator(s) representing your state, listed below:
Akaka, HI: 202-224-6361
Bingaman, NM: 202-224-5521
Boxer, CA: 202-224-3553
Feinstein, CA: 202-224-5323
Byrd, WV: 202-224-3954
Dorgan, ND: 202-224-2551
Feingold, WI: 202-224-5323
Harkin, IA: 202-224-3254
Kennedy, MA: 202-224-4543
Leahy, VT: 202-224-4242
Sanders, VT: 202-224-5141
You should leave this message: Thank you for opposing the India nuclear trade deal and please work to prevent a vote on this dangerous agreement. (Be sure to leave your name and address.)
India has not signed the CTBT and continues to produce bomb-grade fissile material. We should not export nuclear material to India. This agreement blows a hole in the nuclear nonproliferation system and would make it harder to hold Iran’s nuclear program in check.
Sincerely,
John Isaacs and Guy Stevens
