Veterans for Peace ask for Support in request to Madison Parks Commission

Event Dates:
09/10/2008

MADISON area ACTION ALERT –

As endorsed by the Veterans for Peace (VFP) membership meeting in August,  VFP member and co-chair John Fournelle submitted a permit request to the Madison Parks Commission to construct (a 3rd) Memorial Mile.  This time the memorial would be along Speedway Road (just past West High school) on the grounds of Forest Hill Cemetery, November 8-14 (Veterans’ Day is the 11th).   What could be a more fitting location than a cemetery already the solemn home to veterans of many past wars, including both union and confederate grave sites?

We need as many people as possible to show up for the hearing on this request.  You don't need to speak, but you certainly can register in support and show your support by your presence.  The Parks Commission meeting will be:

Wednesday, September 10, at 6:30pm, at the Warner Park Community Recreation Center, located just off Sherman Avenue in north Madison.  The official address is 1625 Northport Drive, Madison, WI  53704

Please consider coming and tell your friends, especially anyone who visited the Memorial Mile last May in Olbrich Park.  We need to fill the seats to present a strong, unanimous voice to our request.

Peace,

Paul McMahon  of VFP – heartlandphoto@tds.net
