Rockford Urban Ministries fair-trade store, 623 Seventh Street, Rockford. Sales every Saturday, from 10 to 4, and Sundays from 12 to 4. Includes one and a-half tons of fairly- traded gift items received from Ten Thousand Villages, a mission outreach of the Mennonite Church. Items come from mission and co-operative groups from around the world. Fair-traded gifts include pottery, wood products, baskets, toys, all items made and imported by mission and peace groups from around the world. The fair-trade store also has a large selection of fair-traded organic coffee (no pesticides) as well as shade-grown (no trees were cut down, which provides more cover for wildlife and improves the flavor of the coffee bean).
