About 400 more Wisconsin National Guard soldiers are being alerted for possible active duty in Iraq.

They are members of the 724th Engineer Battalion, including a portion of the Headquarters Company in Chippewa Falls, Company A in Hayward, the 273rd Engineer Company in Medford and 950th Engineer Company in Spooner and Superior.

The 724th last mobilized to Iraq from March 2003 to July 2004. The 951st Engineer Company, also part of the 724th, is currently deployed to Afghanistan.

There are currently about 3,700 state guard members on active duty in Iraq, Afghanistan and several other places around the world.
