2009/05/28: Joint Finance Committee Approves Domestic Partner Protections

Last week, One Wisconsin Now and Fair Wisconsin teamed up to support domestic partner protections in Wisconsin.

Friday morning,WE DELIVERED OVER 2,400 SIGNATURES to each of the 16 members of the Joint Finance Committee.

And late Friday afternoon, THE JOINT FINANCE COMMITTEE VOTED TO APPROVE DOMESTIC PARTNER PROTECTIONS AS PART OF THE STATE BUDGET!

Thank you so much for speaking out and showing your support for domestic partner protections -- your voice made a huge impact last week.

But we're not there yet. The Assembly and Senate still have to approve the budget, and you can be sure that the inclusion of domestic partner protections will come up in the debate in the Assembly and Senate.

Our family, friends, and neighbors are counting on us to keep working to ensure these protections become a reality in Wisconsin. One Wisconsin Now and Fair Wisconsin will continue to bring you updates on the progress of domestic partnerships, and we hope you'll continue to fight with us in support of domestic partners in Wisconsin.

One way you can help move domestic partner protections forward is to take a moment and THANK THE MEMBERS OF THE JOINT FINANCE COMMITTEE WHO VOTED TO INCLUDE DOMESTIC PARTNER PROTECTIONS IN THE BUDGET.

Thanks so much for the work you've already done, and stay tuned for more ways you can help domestic partner protections become law in Wisconsin.

Thanks again for speaking out,
Scot Ross, One Wisconsin Now and Glenn Carlson, Fair Wisconsin

P.S. -- MAKE SURE TO THANK THE MEMBERS OF THE JOINT FINANCE COMMITTEE WHO STEPPED UP AND SUPPORTED PROTECTIONS FOR DOMESTIC PARTNERS. Fair Wisconsin has set up a tool you can use to easily send a message to the members of Joint Finance in your own words. Visit http://eqfed.org/campaign/thanks_4_dp to send a message now!
