Spotlight on the WNPJ member group: Madison Democratic Socialists of America (DSA)

We believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few. To achieve a more just society, many structures of our government and economy must be radically transformed through greater economic and social democracy so that ordinary Americans can participate in the many decisions that affect our lives.

This organization has several monthly meetings, an active website and facebook page. Members can particpate by writing articles for their publication RedMadison

If you'd like to get more involved as a member of Madison DSA - now's a good time as the annual Chapter Convention is coming up in March:

From Madison DSA on 2/5/2022: In March we will be holding our annual Chapter Convention. Convention is when we take some time to plan out our year, determining what our priorities will be, electing leadership, taking a look at our bylaws, and so much more.

Convention will be held in two meetings in March: Saturday, March 12 at 10am-12pm and 12:30pm-2:30pm, and Sunday, March 27 at 1-2:30pm.

On March 12, we will discuss chapter priorities and bylaw amendments. On March 27, we will discuss Executive Committee and Harassment Grievance Officer elections, and working group charter renewals. Voting will take place online, via email, following each meeting. Each vote will be open for 5 days and we for the first time will be using rank choice voting for chapter priorities.
