September 25: Redistribution of Wealth

Join Families For Justice, Allies for Black Lives, the Madison Area Democratic Socialists of America, and other organizations for this ongoing series of gatherings to build understanding of white supremacy and the journey to (and beyond) allyship.
This month's focus: redistribution of wealth.

Capitalism relies on racism to exploit the many for the benefit of a very few. Many white people have benefitted from race-based policies that have taken land, labor, and opportunities for asset-building from Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. These same policies and behaviors have boosted the financial security of most white people just enough to keep this system running, often without white people realizing they’re accumulating wealth and opportunity because of racism. Come learn about this history and its modern-day continuations, how your family has been impacted, and how we can work towards building a new system today.
