Spotlight on a WNPJ Member Group - 350 Wisconsin

(Note: new action alert posted below on July 3rd - Ride-sharing Options) 350 Madison is the local chapter of the international organization, Started by Madison area climate activists in January 2012, 350 Madison plans and participates in local, national, and international actions to raise awareness of the pressing need to address climate change. They are helping build a global movement that is creating the political will necessary to pass international climate legislation that will effectively return our planet to a stable climate.

350 Madison is now reorganized as 350 Wisconsin, April 2022!

Madison 350 helps unite the message of many groups that are working for a livable climate into one specific goal: needing to get below 350 parts per million (ppm)

Their vision is a global community that protects the planet and supports the flourishing of all living beings; and their mission is to mobilize people to take action on climate change and demand a rapid transition to a just, sustainable world powered by clean, renewable energy. Through their campaigns, they oppose pipelines and other fossil fuel infrastructure, work with local governments to convert society to clean renewable energy, pressure large financial institutions to stop financing fossil fuel companies, and promote changes for a healthy, sustainable environment.

ALERT - July 3: Resist Line 3 is looking for folks who can provide transportation to the frontlines to water protectors who don't have a way of getting there. If that's you, fill out this form to offer your help:
And if you yourself are heading up to the line soon and can offer a ride, let folks know by posting in this rolling rideshare board:

Madison 350 has three primary campaigns they work on simultaneously.

They have the Tar Sands campaign, fighting Enbridge tar sands pipelines in Wisconsin. Madison 350 aims to halt plans for a Line 66 in the Line 61 corridor, to stop the reroute of Line 5 in northern Wisconsin, and to #ShutDownLine5! We support efforts led by those most impacted, including tribes, landowners, and affected community members.

In addition, there is the Divest and Defund campaign, which works to convince institutions that investments in fossil fuels are not only ethically and fiscally irresponsible but are destroying the planet all for profit. We in society are currently focusing on banks that fund pipeline projects;

And finally, the Community Climate Solution campaign focuses on making change across Dane County, targeting both systems and individual levels. Madison 350 assists local governments to achieve climate goals. They broaden and deepen citizen climate crisis awareness and action.
