'First 100 Days' - Wisconsin's message message to
candidates
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the week that presidential candidates began to sketch out
plans for the opening weeks of their administrations, Voces de la Frontera
launched 'First 100 Days' as the rallying cry for the statewide civil
rights march - read press
release
Last
year, more than 80,000 people took to the streets of Milwaukee - and it is vital
that massive numbers do so again to send a clear message in this election
year.

Businesses, Unions: Your comments needed to
stop SS No Match attack
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
A 'foolish immigration purge':
"Leave it to the Bush administration to throw thousands of law-abiding American
workers and companies off a cliff in perilous economic times. Americans anxious
about keeping their jobs should raise a stink and hope that the court rebuffs
the agency again." - New York Times editorial
A 30 day public comment
period is underway after the Department of Homeland Security has published its
No Match rule in the official register.
Millions of U.S. jobs are under
threat. It is vital that businesses, unions, and nonprofit organizations
register their comments by April 25th. Please act before Friday to add your
opposition.

The
Damages of Development: Xalalá Dam in Ixcán, Guatemala
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please join us for Guatemalan activist Jeronimo Osorio
Chen's visit to Milwaukee. Mr. Chen will discuss the overwhelming community
opposition to the Xalalá hydroelectric dam, a massive development project that
would displace indigenous communities and damage the ecosystem in the Ixcán,
Quiché region of Guatemala. The Xalalá dam is one example of the forced
displacement imposed by free trade agreements and "development" programs that
form part of the root causes of migration to the U.S.
