ETC group's strength is in the research and analysis of technological information and in the development of strategic options related to the socioeconomic ramifications of new technologies.

 

International Center for Technology Assessment The International Center for Technology Assessment (CTA) is a non-profit, bi-partisan organization committed to providing the public with full assessments and analyses of technological impacts on society. CTA is devoted to fully exploring the economic, ethical, social, environmental and political impacts that can result from the applications of technology or technological systems.

 

Organic Consumers Association An online and grassroots non-profit public interest organization campaigning for health, justice, and sustainability. The OCA deals with crucial issues of food safety, industrial agriculture, genetic engineering, children's health, corporate accountability, Fair Trade, environmental sustainability and other key topics. We are the only organization in the US focused exclusively on promoting the views and interests of the nation's estimated 50 million organic and socially responsible consumers.

National Family Farm Coalition provides a voice for grassroots groups on farm, food, trade and rural economic issues to ensure fair prices for family farmers, safe and healthy food, and vibrant, environmentally sound rural communities here and around the world.

 

Community Food Security Coalition A non-profit, North American organization dedicated to building strong, sustainable, local and regional food systems that ensure access to affordable, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food for all people at all times.

Human Farming Association HFA's goals are to protect farm animals from cruelty, to protect the public from the dangerous misuse of antibiotics, hormones, and other chemicals used on factory farms, and to protect the environment from the impacts of industrialized animal factories.

 

Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy The Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy promotes resilient family farms, rural communities and ecosystems around the world through research and education, science and technology, and advocacy.

 

Land Stewardship Project LSP is a grassroots membership organization made up of farmers, as well as rural and urban residents working together by linking farmers and consumers through education, research and demonstration to organize communities for positive change.

Public Citizen Public Citizen is a national, nonprofit consumer advocacy organization fight for openness and democratic accountability in government, for the right of consumers to seek redress in the courts; for clean, safe and sustainable energy sources; for social and economic justice in trade policies; for strong health, safety and environmental protections; and for safe, effective and affordable prescription drugs and health care.

 

WISCONSIN

 

Family Farm Defenders Creating a farmer-controlled and consumer-oriented food and fiber system, based upon democratically controlled institutions that empower farmers to speak for and respect themselves in their quest for social and economic justice. FFD has worked to create opportunities for farmers to join together in new cooperative endeavors, form a mutual marketing agency, and forge alliances with consumers through providing high quality food products while returning a fair price to farmers.

 

UW Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems A small sustainable agriculture research center at the University of Wisconsin's College of Agricultural and Life Sciences building UW sustainable agriculture research programs that respond to farmer and citizen needs, and involving them in setting research agendas.
